Sunshine Recorder

2025 - ongoing

Sunshine Recorder is an ongoing publication documenting local creators and events within the DIY and punk scenes of Buffalo, New York. The first issue, scheduled for release in February 2026, highlights the city’s contemporary artistic underground through studio visits, interviews, and on the ground documentation.

Featured subjects include the local pothole filling vigilante known as The Pothole Bandit; the DIY pop-up concert series Guerrilla Showfare; sculptor Chantal Calato, who constructs monstrous “Megaliths” from children’s clunky plastic push toys; as well as poets, folk artists, and community driven cultural spaces such as queer-ran mutual aid event series The Lavender Room. The project is supported by funding from the Andy Warhol Foundation through The Generator Fund.

Future iterations of Sunshine Recorder will expand beyond print to include video documentaries and a curated cassette tape compilation of local live music, further exploring alternative methods of archival and storytelling.
