The Cacophony Society of Buffalo, New York
AKA Sunshine Recorders
2025 - ongoing
In 2025, Buffalo established its own chapter of the Cacophony Society, a performance art and public disruption collective that originated in San Francisco in the 1980s. This body of work documents and participates in orchestrated public interventions designed to momentarily destabilize everyday reality.
Events include spontaneous public concerts, mass dinner parties, costumed gatherings, such as pajama party hangouts at the local pub. These disruptions are intended to create fleeting moments of collective excitement, confusion, and re-enchantment experienced both by participants and unsuspecting passersby. Anyone interested is welcome to join and encouraged to add their own flavor of friendly chaos to the events
