Nicholas Christakis is a photographer and videographer based in Western New York. His work documents everyday life, with an interest in contemporary subcultures, industrial infrastructure, overconsumption, and urban decay. Working primarily through a documentary approach, he photographs situations that might otherwise go unnoticed, often finding humor, irony, or sorrow in them. He frequently works with analog photography, obsolete camcorders, and vintage media formats, using their imperfections and limitations to explore nostalgia, deterioration, and cultural memory. At the center of his practice is an observation of how people leave traces of themselves in the places they inhabit, creating faded fragments of time.
